Writer and critic, Professor Francis Hodgson chats to Nigel about how he put together his BPB16 exhibition, the resulting works, his thoughts on the fashion industry and more.
Nigel Shafran started his career in the late 80s working for The Face and I-d magazine. His work has been widely exhibited and included in shows at The Photographers’ Gallery, Tate, the V&A, Fig-1, and MW Projects et al. His publications include Ruthbook 1995, edited photographs 1992-2004 (Photoworks/Steidl), Teenage Precinct Shoppers 2013 (Dashwood Books), Visitor Figures 2015 and Dark Rooms (Mack Books) 2016.
Francis Hodgson was for many years the photography critic of the Financial Times and head of the photographs department at Sotheby’s. He is currently Professor in the Culture of Photography at the University of Brighton.
