Photography writer and editor
Gemma Padley writes about photography for specialist and mainstream publications including British Journal of Photography, Time LightBox, the BBC, The Telegraph, Foam, Photoworks, Photomonitor, and 1000 Words. In addition, Gemma works as a freelance editor on photography book projects and writes introductions for artist photobooks. In 2015, she contributed to Self Publish, Be Happy’s A DIY Photobook Manual And Manifesto co-published by Aperture and is currently working on a forthcoming book by Rizzoli. She has co-judged competitions that include the Getty Prestige Grant 2015, Magnum Photos’ 30 Under 30 award, British Journal of Photography’s International Photography Awards 2016, and Magenta Foundation’s Flash Forward 2016. Gemma also takes part in talks about contemporary photography and publishing, and does portfolio reviews.
